A 120 m long vertical lift span over the shipping canal is equipped with mechanisms for quick lifting and lowering operations to let vessels pass. When lifted, it provides a vertical navigational clearance of 25 m above the water level.
Operations are controlled by a computerized system developed by Techprogress OJSC.
The construction process used a number of innovations, including the lifting of the metal span weighing about 2,000 tons into the design position of 23 m high.
Apart from construction and assembly, the company performed other works including the installation of navigation warning system, public address system, telephone, outdoor lighting, video surveillance, VHF communications system and others.
